Embarking on our first day in Singapore post-cruise, we were welcomed by the luxury and comfort of our hotel, the Shangri La Singapore, a stark contrast to our life at sea.

After checking in, we hit the ground walking along Orchard Road, Singapore’s retail heartbeat. Between the luxury storefronts and malls, the angsana trees provided cool spots to take in the festive atmosphere, buzzing with Christmas spirit and retail excitement.

Singapore is unique how lush greenery seamlessly blends with the urban environment, embodying Singapore’s vision of a ‘City in a Garden’. The architecture around us was a showcase of Singapore’s innovative spirit, boasting structures that were as sustainable as they were striking.

After our lengthy stroll, we returned to the hotel and escaped to the tropical paradise that was the hotel pool, with the city’s towering skyscrapers standing sentinel around us, reflecting the clear skies in their glass facades. We were lucky to enjoy some sunshine that afternoon for this is the rainy season in Singapore.

Back in our room after a day out, we geared up for the evening. Tired from our explorations, we chose convenience and dined at the hotel, where we were treated to Kagoshima-sourced wagyu beef, reminiscent of our prior cruise stop. To our surprise, the meal was paired with a favorite wine of ours, a rare find back home. It was a comforting end to a day filled with new sights and steps.

Wrapping up our first day in Singapore, we hit Origin Bar, famous for its innovative cocktail scene. The drinks were as inventive as they were delicious. Looking forward to unpacking more of what Singapore has to offer tomorrow. Stay tuned for more city insights.
