Our second day in Vouliagmeni was a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, offering us the chance to soak in the serene beauty of this coastal town while also enjoying some memorable experiences.

Starting the Day: A Relaxing Morning

We began our day with another delicious breakfast at The Roc Club. The hotel’s breakfast spread was as impressive as day 1, featuring a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and made-to-order dishes. It was the ideal way to fuel up for the day ahead.

A Stroll Along the Beach and a Local Cafe Stop

After breakfast, we took a leisurely walk along the beach. The morning was peaceful, with clear skies and a gentle breeze—though temperature pushing into the middle 90s.

As we walked, we came across a local café. We decided to take a break and savor the moment. Chris indulged in some pistachio ice cream while we relaxed under the shade of the café’s canopy. The clientele was primarily locals with a smattering of tourists.

A Hike to a Scenic Overlook

Energized by our beach stroll and café stop, we decided to go for a hike to a nearby scenic overlook. The trail was a bit rugged, winding up the hillside, but the effort was well worth it.

As we climbed, the views became more breathtaking with each step. By the time we reached the top, we were rewarded with a stunning panorama of the coastline and the bright blue waters of the Aegean Sea. We paused to take in the view and snap a few photos, capturing the beauty of the area and the sense of accomplishment after the hike.

Afternoon by the Pool

After our hike, we returned to the hotel to cool off and spend some time by the pool. The pool area was just as inviting as the day before, with plenty of loungers and attentive service. We spent the afternoon swimming, lounging, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.

Dinner at Bluefish

As evening approached, we headed to Bluefish for dinner. The restaurant was beautifully situated by the water, offering stunning views of the sea as the sun set. We chose to dine outside, where the ambiance was relaxed yet elegant, with the soft glow of lights reflecting off the water.

Our meal began with a delicate sea bass carpaccio, which was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The dish was topped with thin slices of radish and tiny pearls of salmon roe, adding a burst of flavor and texture to each bite.

For the main course, we selected a red snapper from the fish counter to share. The restaurant prepared the snapper in two courses: the first course featured ouzo paired with the meat from the head, offering a rich and unique flavor. The second course focused on the meat of the fillet, which was tender and full of flavor, highlighting the quality of the fish. We also enjoyed a vibrant saffron orzo, creamy and perfectly balanced, which complemented the seafood beautifully.

The combination of great food, a gentle sea breeze, and the sound of the waves made for a truly memorable dining experience.

After Dinner Drinks at the Hotel

After dinner, we returned to The Roc Club and capped off the evening with a quiet drink in the hotel’s lounge. The lounge was warm and inviting, with comfortable seating that encouraged us to relax and reflect on the day’s experiences. The drink was the perfect way to wind down and prepare for the next day’s adventures.

Looking Ahead

Our time in Vouliagmeni has been a delightful mix of relaxation and exploration, but tomorrow, our adventure takes a new turn as we board our cruise ship and set sail for the Greek Isles. We’ll depart from Athens (Piraeus) in the evening and begin our journey across the Aegean Sea. Our first stop will be Mykonos, where we’ll arrive early the next morning and spend the day exploring the island, with an overnight stay planned.

We’re excited for what lies ahead as we cruise through some of Greece’s most beautiful destinations, including Volos, Skopelos, Thessaloniki, and on to Turkey – Istanbul.
