Mallorcan Wine Tasting and Palma’s Old City

After a day at sea it was back to the sightseeing on Thursday. The first half of the day we spent tasting some of Mallorca’s delicacies. First we sampled olive oil produced at a gorgeous estate outside of Palma and then toured a nearby bodega and vineyard. We of course sipped several of the Mallorcan wines and provided accompaniments. The wife of the bodega owner even provided homemade Mallorcan sweets to go with the dessert wines. We of course selected a few bottles as souvenirs to take home. Chris even used his extensive expertise on the matter to convince fellow travelers that yes you can put wine in your checked bags. As we departed the sales room, we heard a fellow traveler proclaim, “the Texas guy says it’s okay”. LOL

We finished our afternoon in Palma by visiting the old city center with our sights set on the spectacular Cathedral, known for its Gothic-Levantine architecture. The Cathedral is the third tallest Cathedral in Europe.

Our first day in Mallorca came to an end with a special dinner onboard one of the ship’s specialty restaurants that specializes in classic French dishes. A day at the beach awaits us on day 2 in Mallorca.
