Day 7 of our journey landed us in Punta Del Este, Uruguay. We were so delighted with this stop that we began to wonder about real estate pricing 😄 @karaline_brasher you probably are not surprised 😉

We chose an excursion that included a bus tour hitting the town’s highlights before focusing on Carlos Paez Villaro’s Atelier located in Casapueblo. This well known painter, sculptor, poet, and architect passed in 2014. His former home and hotel is an interesting experience with magnificent views.

Most visitors have access to the hotel and museum, a select few groups are granted access to his personal home and studio. His widow still lives in the home but is gracious enough to throw the doors open and in fact personally welcomed our group.

After our tour we spent some time strolling the waterfront and enjoying snacks and cocktails before making our way back to the vessel. Once back on board and the required cabin nap completed we finished our day with a wonderful Captain’s Table dinner complete with wine parings and new friends. Tomorrow morning we will wake to views of Buenos Aires!

Some of our best friends here in Jax grew up in Punta del Este. Be sure to have “matambre”
