Never go on trips with anyone you do not love

A couples massage, the MRT that makes our DC Metro look bad, and a Singapore Sling with complimentary peanuts at the Long Bar where the thing was invented.

Singapore, Day 3 – A Sling at the Long Bar

Day three was for recovering. A couples massage at the Shangri-La to start — Chris took the deep tissue, on the grounds that a fortnight of aeroplanes and cabin beds had done something to his back, and Jen took the sensible option.

Then the MRT, which is spotless, clearly signed and turns up when it says it will. We ride the DC Metro at home. We will leave it there.

The Long Bar at Raffles next, for a Singapore Sling in the room where it was invented around 1915. The hotel came out of a long renovation a few years ago and it shows. The peanuts are free and the shells are meant to go on the floor, which makes this the only place in Singapore where you are actively encouraged to drop something.

Long Bar

Grab back to the hotel — cheap, quick, everywhere — and dinner at Origin to finish.

We fly home tomorrow. Twelve nights on the ship and three more here, and by this point we want our own bed, our own routine and the cats. Christmas next.
